First introduced in 2002, BOTOX® Cosmetic  is an FDA-approved facial injectable that is made of a purified form of botulinum toxin Type A. It is designed to block specific muscle movement that causes wrinkles to form. As aging naturally progresses and becomes apparent in the face, BOTOX® Cosmetic can temporarily, yet dramatically, halt the development of these unwanted wrinkles.

Areas of the face that will benefit from BOTOX® Cosmetic injections, include the:

• Forehead
• Frown lines
• Around the eyes (“crow’s feet”)

The entire treatment time is approximately 10 minutes, although this may vary slightly depending on how many areas are treated (many patients receive treatment in multiple regions during one visit).

Dr. Pertsch strives to create a comfortable experience for his patients, which is why he takes two precautionary methods to ensure that they have a rewarding experience; Dr. Pertsch puts on a strong topical anesthetic on the patient’s skin prior to treatment. This numbing treatment ultimately helps to save time because the procedure can be done with greater ease for both him and the patient. In addition, the tiniest of needles are used for injections, which he changes frequently during treatment. This helps to avoid any pain that may develop from using a dull needle.

If the patient wants to maintain his or her new, youthful look, additional sessions will be required approximately every three months. Because there is no downtime, the individual can carry on with the rest of his or her day following treatment. If a patient is unhappy with BOTOX® Cosmeticefforts once the treatment wears off, the facial appearance will return to its natural state in about two and a half to three and a half months.
